Elleofnxample Upsets Thursday Feature

Elleofnxample displayed courage and determination en route to a 1:52.2 triumph in Thursday night's $10,500 featured ninth race at Vernon Downs.

Elleofnxample upsets the F&M Open Pace
A winner in the week's Open class for female pacers here on June 7, Elleofnxample ($35.20) went right for the lead from the start of this week's Open distaff test for lateral gaiters and maintained it through splits of :27 to the quarter and :56.2 to the half.  Shuffled back to second by the advancing favorite, Ocean's Motion, entering the final furlong, the 6-year-old daughter of N Xample-Farline Hanover battled back to regain the advantage entering the final sixteenth and maintained it to the finish by a head over the fast-closing High Speed Life.

With Todd Frocione driving for his dad, owner Lon Frocione, and trainer Tony Mondi, Elleofnxample earned her third current victory (second locally) and 17th all-time, while raising her lifetime earnings to more than $188,000.

Rick Plano and Jimmy Whittemore each earned their meet-leading (along with Frank Davis) fifth driving doubles during Thursday's 12-race program.
