Glam Cam dominates Thursday feature

Glam Cam secured a convincing 1:52.4 victory in Thursday night's $11,000 feature, while driver Roman Lopez collected four first-place finishes during the 80th program of 2012 at Vernon Downs.

Trainer Brian Connor was at the controls for owner Robert J. Lovett in Thursday's third race as Glam Cam ($10.80) sat second to the pace-setting favorite Steuben Ruthless through the first two splits (:55.2), then took charge on the backstretch and played catch-me-if-you can from there, romping to a 3-1/4 length triumph in the weekend's top clash for female pacers.

Thursday's tally was the second in a row, sixth this season and 16th all-time for the 6-year-old bay daughter of Camotion-Cr Charisma, who has earned $108,093 during her productive career.

Connor also collected a 1:54.2 tally behind the Sarah Osmeloski-owned and conditioned pacer I Am So Glad in Thursday's eighth event, chalking up his 11th two-win performance of the current campaign here.

Driver Lopez enhanced his fifth-place spot on the meet's dash-winning chart by capturing the evening's Second (Scarlet Spurs, in 1:58.1), fifth (Abriella, in 1:53.2), sixth (Cruising West, in 1:55) and ninth (Save Your Best, in 1:53.4) races to conclude his initial four-win performance of the meet.

Leading reinsman Rick Plano posted two victories during Thursday's 12-race card, raising his driving count to 135 and his meet-topping training total to 69.
