pacers at Vernon Downs.
Trainer Chuck Connor, Jr. did the teaming in
Thursday's featured eighth event, piloting the crowd favorite All About Kisses
($3.40) to a career-fastest 1:52.2 triumph.
The brown 4-year-old daughter of Pro Bono
Best-Cheerful Outlook cut fractions of :27, :56.3 and 1:25.1 en route to her
fourth season's score and 16th lifetime victory. Connor's wife, Janice, owns the career-winner
of $290,536 along with Albert C. and Michelle C. Crawford.
Leading driver Rick Plano picked up his
seventh triple of the 46-program meeting during Thursday's 10-race card, while
raising his win count for the local campaign to 74. His current all-time victory total of 5,987
leaves him just 13 scores shy of the prestigious 6,000 career-win mark.
Plano's Thursday win postings came behind the
trotters Sweet Baby Jane (1:58.3) in the fifth race, Jam And Jelly (1:56.3) in
the ninth event and the pacer Steuben Ruthless (1:53) in the evening's final
contest.
DOWNS DOINGS—After guiding the pacer
Linden Beauty to a 1:55.2 triumph, and earning his 32nd driving
victory, in Thursday’s fourth race, Frank Davis was involved in a sixth-race
mishap with his pacer Cheap N Easy in the night's sixth event. Although the preliminary report was that he
was not seriously injured, the 21-year-old horseman chose not to participate in
the evening's ninth and 10th events…Michael Pozefsky's 3-year-old
filly trotter Really Realy Sweet secured her first career victory after a 2:00.4
mile for trainer/driver Chip Zombick in
Thursday's third contest…Friday's 10-race card will begin at 6:55 p.m…The Downs
will host a New York Sire Stakes-sponsored contest for 2-year-old filly pacers
on Wednesday night, Aug. 8 and a NYSS contest for 3-year-old filly trotters on
