Maxnifizent looks good in Friday night feature

Maxnifizent looked splendid while recording a 1:52.4 pacing score in Friday night's sixth race at Vernon Downs.

With Jimmy Whittemore steering for trainer David Jannone, Maxnifizent ($9.50) turned in a seamless, front-striding victory for owners Michelle C. and Albert C. Crawford.  It was the second victory in 11 starts for the 3-year-old son of American Ideal-Tuffenuff Mindale, who has also compiled a pair of second-place finishes and a third in his first season of pari-mutuel competition.

The 2-year-old colt trotter Shaolin Master ($37.40) also looked superb while charting her first career victory in Friday's third event.  LeWayne Miller drove for trainer Erv Miller and the Tanah Merah Farms as the homebred son of American Ideal-Shadow Baby stopped the timer in 1:57.3 to earn an impressive win-record and come within one-fifth-of-a-second of the Vernon’s season's standard for his age, sex and gait, established by Creditora in a New York Sire Stakes contest on July 6.

Leading driver Rick Plano and his son, Luke, captured five of Friday's 12 races.  Rick tied Chris Lems at eight for the local season's high in triples, while Luke logged his third double of the 51-program campaign.

The Millers, LeWayne and Erv, also earned a pair of win credits for the Tanah Merah Farms during Friday's card, as did trainers Rick Plano and Deedra Johnson.
